Sheriff of Prince William County Police Department to Marshal 2020 Annual Greater Manassas Saint Patrick’s Day Parade
Glendell Hill, Sheriff of the Prince William County Police Department, has been named Grand Marshal of the 2020 Greater Manassas Saint Patrick;s Day Parade announced Vincent T, Fitzpatrick, President , Inisfail, Inc. He will lead the 21st Greater Manassas Saint Patrick’s Day Parade down Center Street in Old Town Manassas on Saturday, March 14, 2020.
“We thank Sheriff Hill for his many years of public service to Prince William County and for his annual participation in, and support of the Manassas St. Patrick’s Day Parade,” said Vincent Fitzpatrick, parade organizer.
About Sheriff Glendell Hill: Glen Hill was born in New Bern, NC. After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Army. His last tour of duty was Vint Hill Farms Station on the western border of Prince William County, where he served in the U.S. Army Security Agency. He received an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army in June 1969. Following his discharge, he became the first African-American to join the Manassas Police Department. While serving there, he continued his education in Criminal Justice at Northern Virginia Community College.
In January of 1982, he joined the newly created Prince William-Manassas Regional Adult Detention Center, where he held every management position, including appointment to Superintendent in 1993. While serving as jail superintendent, he was named Correctional Administrator of the Year for 1997 by the American Jail Association.
In November 2003, he was elected Sheriff of Prince William County and is currently serving as Chairman for the Prince William-Manassas Regional Jail Board. Sheriff Hill has more than five decades (50 years) of law enforcement experience in Manassas City and Prince William County. In November 2019, he was re-elected to serve his fifth term.
Sheriff Hill has received several awards including the following:
- Correctional Administrator of the Year, American Jail Association (1997)
- Lifetime Professional Achievement Commendation, Virginia House of Delegates
- Outstanding Support and Service Recognition, United States Marshals Service
- Prince William County Republican of the Year, Prince William County Republic Committee (2003)
Glen and his wife, Carolyn, have been married since 1974. They have three children, ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Carolyn is a school teacher in the City of Manassas School System.

About the Greater Manassas Saint Patrick’s Day Parade
The Greater Manassas Saint Patrick’s Day Parade is an annual community event held in Old Town Manassas in honor of Saint Patrick, the patron Saint of Ireland, and to celebrate Irish culture in America. The parade is managed by Inisfail, Inc. and is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt charitable organization.

Our guest bartenders will include of local businessmen and other prominent personalities who will be glad to pour your favorite beer or wine. They’ll be competing for tips so please bring your best drink order! Raffle tickets will be available for purchase for door prizes.
